Us at the River

Third vacation post. We went to the river to swim.  Devin fell asleep on the way.

Me and Mommy are at the stream.

 I am helping a few people make a dam.  That is the library in the background with the few trees.

 Doesn't Devin look cute playing in the water with the rocks and the sand?

I kept having to remind him that eating rocks and sand was a bad idea.  Thankfully he also enjoyed splashing.

 I am building the dam more.  The lifeguards that are here tell the kids not to play where I am playing.

A group from a day camp showed up while we were there.  They were very considerate and well behaved.

 I don't think you can tell but maybe you can that I am dropping a rock.  I think it is already in the water, but the splash is still going.  Isn't that a cool splash?

You can hardly see the splash, but I just let go of the rock above this picture.

Hiking Up Mt. Bald Two Times

Second vacation post.

 We are at the bottom of the mountain Bald.  Devin is I think grabbing Daddy.

Allen carried Devin in the "Ergo" carrier up the mountain.  The idea was that our friend Rob, who climbs mountains more often than we do could carry Devin, but the baby wasn't used to him yet and protested.  Allen was a trouper.

Unfortunately we forgot the camera at the bottom of the mountain.  I grabbed a few pictures when we got back down.  I've swiped a few pictures that Rob put up on Facebook.

 We are going home after we climbed Bald.  I am sitting in the back seat so Rob can sit in the one in front of me.

This is the group photo.  The group was our family, Rob and our friends (who came to play games later that day.)

 This is a different day climbing Bald.  I think we are at the top.  It is only me, Daddy and Rob going because the friends didn't come over this time and it was Devin's nap time.  We went there again because we could not do canoeing.

 I am lying on the rock because it is very comfortable and I wanted to lay down somewhere.  It is actually snuggle-y.  But, do you think it is?  I do, once you get used to it.

 I really like climbing mountains - even if they're really, really, really, really hard.

I am sitting on a kind of big rock at the top of Bald.  I really had fun climbing the mountain these two times.

Devin and His Mischief with Furniture

First vacation post.

 Liam:  I am reading Doggy the book to Devin.  He is very interested in the doggy book.  We got the doggy book and other books from the Abbie Greenleaf library in Franconia.  My favorite book was A Rat's Tale even though it was a little bit sad.

 We are playing a game of Carcassonne with the expansion "Tower."  In the game Rob and Daddy took out the city that I had been working on for a long time.  It was really disappointing when it had no points with it.  It would have been a lot of points for me, but no one got it.

We played lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of games.

 Devin is crawling by the chair.

During this trip Devin went from "army crawling" to crawling on all fours.

 

 He spent lots of time trying to get into trouble.  Sometimes this included...

 ....taking advantage of distracted gamers to chew on the furniture.  I got the proof, however.

 Devin likes to stand by climbing up chairs.  He does it on his fence too, but he hasn't learned how to get down yet.  But now he has learn to go sideways.

 We are coming back from picking blueberries.  We picked a lot of blueberries in the blueberry patch.

 Here are the logging vehicles.  You cannot see very good at the crane, but that little red dot behind the truck is part of the truck.

We were walking down the road for a walk and we found the logging vehicles.

I am standing and holding a wet branch.  Rob talked about the pine tree, the fir tree, spruce tree, the...cannonball tree?  No not the cannonball tree.  I forget the other ones, but there was a big giant tree.  And there was definitely not a cannonball tree, but there is a canetable tree on a different state, I think.

(We're not sure about this.  Liam thinks maybe he really means coconut tree.)

I am in my own room, not this room.

Devin had his own bed next to ours, but didn't always sleep well on it.  He also had trouble adjusting to daytime naps in a fuller house, so Allen and I were a little sleep deprived part of the time.

Liam:  But that was OK with me because I still had a lot of entertainment.

Devin's Actual Birthday.

 The day before we left for vacation was Devin's actual birthday.  Although we had the main celebration the previous Sunday we saved a few presents for him to open on the actual day and gave him an extra cupcake.

 Liam also got to open a present from Grammy and Grandpa.  It was "Ubuild Battleships."  He played it during our vacation.  Making the game was fun, but it had a few strange rules.  Should work fine if used with normal rules.

 He took his usual methodical approach to the cupcake.

 But this time he tried eating the actual cake part, which didn't go so well - it made him gag.

 He persevered with the icing.

 Gave himself an icing facial.....

...and got a little disgusted with the whole process.

Most of the day was taken up with final vacation prep, but we did have a little time to visit with friends.
