Kayaking in New Hampshire

Since some other activities didn't seem like such a good idea with an active two-year-old we tried kayaking fairly early in the trip.

Devin wasn't a big fan of the equipment.

Liam didn't mind.  "I just like to show off in my new hat and life jacket."

Devin also wasn't sure he like the actual being-in-a-boat part.

Liam got to try paddling his own kayak for the first time.  I was a little nervous about this.

He did fine, and loved it.  "I LOVED the kayaking and I liked docking my boat.  But my arms do get a little tired."

Devin's favorite part was reaching down into the water.
Allen had to do all the paddling.  No way I could manage a paddle and a squirmy Devin.

Liam had the run of the pond.  "This is the really tiring part.  But.... it's still fun.  I had a little trouble docking, though.  I still wish I could get in farther."

Rob got some family photos for us.

Liam:  "I was trying to catch up, but Daddy was going too fast."

Liam:  "The water lilies were pretty, but I didn't get to see that many in real life - open and up close."  (I think he must have been concentrating on paddling.)
We didn't see the beaver, just its lodge.  Liam:  "In a separate trip we did see the beaver."

We went out a second day.  Pretty much the same story as far as Devin not really being into it, so he and I went home for nap time and the others stayed longer.
