We got Liam the bike to go with his helmet today.
He tried it out on the driveway first.
With the car at the end to make sure he didn't accidentally to to far.
It was work, but he was pretty determined.
Daddy looked on and gave suggestions. Devin was there for moral support.
Liam was pretty interested in the pretend tools included with the bike untl he figured out they couldn't actually do anything.
We went across the street so he could work up some speed on the sidewalk.
Devin wasn't really into it.
Return trip. Although he's very interested in making sure the brakes work this time he did his best to build up some speed.
Why was it a wishy-washy day? Yesterday I met with a lactation consultant. She felt that the problem with Devin's digestion was most likely caused by oversupply. She also advised taking it easy with dairy but not cutting it out completely. Last night was terrible for sleeping for Devin. He never slept for more than an hour and hardly ever when he wasn't being held or at least snuggled somehow. Allen took him for a few hours, but that was almost the only "sleep" I got.
Devin slept very soundly yesterday afternoon and evening so I was prepared to believe it was purely a sleep issue and we should stick to the plan as far as dairy was concerned. Still, I had some milk in my tea but otherwise avoided it. Then he had more blood in his poop. Very discouraging for me since I had been thinking that the oversupply issue might be resolving so it seemed that diary must really be the problem. I resolved to avoid dairy completely until we get rid of the blood. Then after we went shopping for the bike he had another poop that was very green. So we haven't solved the supply issues and maybe dairy isn't the primary problem.
It's confusing though because eating dairy seems to be increasing my milk supply too much for Devin to handle. If I leave it in and my milk supply gets back to normal but he's still having problems then I could cut the dairy and see if that solves the issue. If I cut it completely and the supply goes down and he still has problems we have no answers. If cutting it leads to no lower supply and no problems then I'd still have to challenge the dairy again, hopefully without spiking my supply again. I do not feel up to figuring this out on no sleep.
Then there was the fairly straightforward issue of feeling wishy-washy about whether to go shopping on no sleep or wait until tomorrow. Typically Devin eventually gets exhausted enough to sleep a little better. But then he often sleeps most of the next day and that would be a great time for me to sleep rather than running around town. But you can see how we solved that dilemma. Time will tell if it was a good idea. Cute bike and kid though, right?
