With a title like that I should have lots of pretty pictures. In fact, parts of our yard look great right now. They have about six more minutes to look so wonderful, so I should take some pictures while it lasts. Somehow I always seem to forget that with warm weather and flowers comes pollen and mowing and ALLERGIES. We are all sniffling and coughing and sneezing around here.
Still, it's great to be able to spend time outside. More sandbox and swinging lately, as well as a trip to our neighborhood "grandpa"'s house. He doesn't actually have any grandkids of his own and always enjoys seeing Liam, although he still can't hear anything Liam says. I used to think it was because Liam was a little hard to understand, but now I think it's just hearing loss. Liam loves to go because he always gets sugar cookies and sometimes gets Happy Meal toys. Also, Mr. D knows all about birds and has a couple of feeders in his yard. Today we saw a woodpecker and a nuthatch up close.
We also (for once) timed it so that Liam could swing with the neighbor kids on their big swing set. Last year he had a mortal fear of swings and wouldn't go on them. This year he loves them, but wants to be pushed pretty much the whole time he's on them. He can actually pump but he says it makes his legs tired and he doesn't want to. Pushing him doesn't go so well for me right now since my abdominal muscles are otherwise occupied.
The strange thing for me about the warm weather is that it seems so sudden that people automatically realize that I'm pregnant. Somehow with a jacket they still don't seem to notice. But in summer clothes it's obvious and I get all the questions about when I'm due and whether we're having a boy or girl. I guess it shouldn't be such a surprise, but I didn't get out much when I was pregnant with Liam and it just feels a little weird.
Of course we don't spend all our time outside. Liam does ask what he can do pretty often, but he also can find ways to keep busy when pressed. Here is a drawing he did recently in his "Angry Birds" coloring book. I tried to stop him before he did it the black squiggles, but the thought they were absolutely necessary because they show the path of the black bird as it kills all the pigs.
