So we made it down to Columbus for Mother's Day and my cousin Pate's graduation party. It was awesome to see Mom and Dad in person since they've been gone for about three months now traveling in Asia. Liam was so happy to see them! He also had fun with his cousins Benny and Ruth.
Somehow I didn't get any pictures of "Grandpa Dana" - possibly because he spent so much time playing with the kids in the basement and outside. Also he was a little tired from his trip. But here's a nice shot Aunt Shelley took for us after Pate's gang and Titus had left.
Actually, it's hard for me to figure out how to do any kind of cohesive blog entry about the whole weekend. It was easier to post a bunch of pictures to Facebook, so I did that.
We stayed until Monday, partly because I wanted to check at a few stores for a rocker/glider. We did find out that one store has an upholstered rocker that is in our price range, not terribly ugly, a size that wouldn't eat up out whole living room and decently proportioned. But the arms are very low, which is a hassle for breastfeeding. Didn't find one padded wooden glider to sit on. They are widely available online, but it seems that no one wants to keep any in their showrooms. What's with that?
Then I managed to space the fact that I had an OB appointment this morning. When I called to change the appointment I got put on hold immediately. I put the cell phone on speaker so I could keep track of the call without holding the phone. Liam had, I guess, never listened to hold music before. He seemed to kind of like it at first, but it got old fast - especially because they kept interrupting the music to tell me that I was still on hold. He thought maybe I should just hang up. I tried to explain about how in that case I wouldn't actually get to talk to them about rescheduling. Not sure it was clear.
I think that I should just not have appointments right now. They called me back and rescheduled the reschedule. Seems my appointment for today was with the wrong doctor because that seemed to be why they did the re-reschedule. Made me feel a little better about missing the appointment. But then I realized that I had an appointment tomorrow that conflicted with Liam's music class. When I was talking to them I realized I had scheduled an OB appointment for a time that conflicted with an appointment with THAT office. I believe I now have it all straightened out and entered correctly on the calendar. I hope.
Actually, it's a good thing I canceled my appointment tomorrow morning. We went looking at mini-vans this afternoon/evening. The first one we drove was very bare-bones and somewhat warn, but within our price range. The dealership people were not friendly or helpful, though. I guess a dealership that sells new Volkswagen doesn't have much time for people looking for used low end vans. Then we came back home and checked the website of a closer dealer. Found another van in the right range. Went to look at it, but discovered that the dealership closed at six! Also discovered that they had reduced the price versus what's on the website. It looks nicer than the one we drove today for basically the same price. We plan to go back first thing tomorrow. Right when my appointment would have been. So I guess it all works out. Mostly.
