Today I tried on my "tankini" style swimming suit - just to see if it still fits. I can still get it on, but I'm not totally sure it will make it through the next couple of months. I took a picture for posterity's sake, but I don't think I'll post it. Everybody seems to love belly shots, but it sort of feels like pandering to post the picture.
Today was possibly the hottest we've had so far this season. I had the AC and the ceiling fan on to try to keep cool. Liam claimed he was freezing and I told him to put a sweater on. He didn't like the idea since, as he said, "It's summer!" Which I guess pretty much explains why it's terrible to have to wear a sweater. I told him that if I get too hot I might throw up (had a bad round of nausea just last night), but he wasn't very sympathetic. I guess we were mutually unsympathetic.
Which I kind of wish had gone differently because by supper time, even with the sweater on and after he had been sitting on his dad's lap for a while he claimed he was "freezing." And he had that look in his eyes. And felt hot to the touch. Thermometer read over 102 - under his arm. And he went to bed with a record low in stalling. Allen's been fighting a sinus-y thing for over a week now, so we had been thinking Liam had a version of that, but now....who knows. To make matters worse, the un-pink version of children's Tylenol tastes much worse (according to Liam) than the pink kind. Next time, we are requested to get the type with food coloring in it.
The good news is that it's supposed to get cooler over the next couple of days. The bad news is that we really need groceries tomorrow. Since Allen started his six week summer course today logistics could be a little tricky if Liam's not well enough to go to the store with me.
I hope that our friend Mary, who came over and helped with cleaning today doesn't end up with what Liam has. He helped a lot with cleaning up the living room in hopes that Mary would have time to play with him and she spent some time working on a puzzle with him. It's just a sign of how quickly things can turn south that he really didn't seem "that sick" at 4:30 when she finished up cleaning.
Instead of the swim suit shot here's a bright red belly shot (taken by Liam) with me looking pretty exhausted. This was Friday of last week when I was really feeling the effect of a busy week.
And here's a a self-portrait Liam painted/drew at the "Creativity Center" that he participates in through his preschool. His teacher (we love her) dropped it off this evening after Liam had gone to bed. I believe they were studying Picasso and using his work as an inspiration when he made this portrait.
