Yesterday was THE day for Allen and Liam to go to the fair. The day when the discount was available for the "kids ride all rides for a single price" pass. And it actually worked out that way. Before they left Liam wanted to make sure to get in a snuggle with Devin since he hadn't been able to before leaving for preschool. I do have a hand in there helping to support Devin. He's getting bigger a lot faster than Liam is at the moment. I'm not sure how much longer they will be able to snuggle like this.
I gave them strict instructions to take lots of pictures. This worked well until the batteries ran out on the camera - before they got to the rides. Liam felt it was OK since we've taken pictures other years. I was hoping to compare to see how much bigger he's getting, but I think some of the pictures they did get will work for that. The baby animal barn in particular has always been a favorite of ours - also the tractors.
Pigs are just funny.
Chicks just hatched in an incubator. They look much cuter when they've had a little time to dry out.
They found the poultry and rabbit barns - a goal since I usually have looked for them and not been able to find them.
I also gave Liam instructions to take pictures of Allen, which he managed to do before the batteries ran out.
I'm not sure what the story is here, but I'm guessing that Liam's a lot more happy that goat can't get out of the pen than the goat is.
Sometimes Liam looks very big to me - especially compared to Devin.
But he's still a little guy in the scale of the big wide world!
Exploring a caboose.
And that's it for pictures of the fair, folks.
Meanwhile, back at the "Sometimes it's OK Corral" Devin was having a particularly fussy day. I finally thought to try some baby gas drops the nurse-midwife had suggested and he slept a little. I was glad that we had made plans to eat out after the guys got done at the fair, although when they ended up running a little late (who knew the farris wheel would get shut down just after Allen bought tickets to go on it with Liam?) I couldn't figure out how I was going to get ready before they got back. I put Devin in the swing and used the bathroom, but before I got done he was already at the high pitched panic scream state. Then I tried laying him on the floor and shaking some toys in front of him. It actually calmed him down, so I put on some music and managed to finish getting dressed.
Supper went pretty well considering it was the first time for just the four of us to eat out. We managed to get Liam's summer reading program points turned in at the library and I even managed to do a little important birthday shopping on the sly. When we got home Devin even managed not to spend the time between midnight and 1 a.m. awake. That was the end of according to plan, though. He woke up SEVERAL times during the night. But he has tried to make up for it today by actually sleeping in his crib (see above - I have pictures. It really happened.) Here's hoping he also sleeps tonight because I had gotten pretty stressed out and haven't been able to take advantage of his sleeping by doing much napping today.
